Wood: Outdoor storage sheds are as extension of your home. They are extremely durable and will last for many years. Wooden storage sheds provide attractive long-term storage opportunities, but they are the most expensive of all storage sheds. Wooden sheds also require the same basic type of maintenance that any wooden structure requires for its upkeep.
For starters, they are expensive. Depending on the size, they can cost thousands of dollars. They also require a lot of maintenance. By this I mean that these wooden sheds will need to be painted from time to time and they will require a lot of upkeep. Even though these wooden sheds look nice when they are new, after a few years they will look worn and old from the weather conditions outside.
Metal sheds are usually constructed from galvanized steel that can withstand high temperatures in the summer. When compared to other types of storage sheds, metal sheds are less expensive and are resistant to fire. But they are not recommended for storing gasoline or other volatile liquids and fertilizers. Storage sheds are best built some distance away from the main building.
Other factors that come into play are the materials you want to use. A shed could be built out of metal or vinyl although you will often find that the most popular material to build a shed with is wood. Wood is more flexible to work with and can be replaced easily. Wood is also more durable and it can be customized much faster than metal or vinyl.
Storage sheds may be indoor or outdoor. People make indoor sheds because of limited space or insufficient time. Nowadays, most people prefer outdoor storage sheds to protect their belongings from rain, snow, fire, and sunlight. Today, in order to meet the changing needs of the customer, portable storage sheds are available. This type is perfect to store lawn equipment, snowmobiles, and bicycles. A storage shed with a loft is yet another alternative, which can accommodate numerous stored items. Garden sheds, tool sheds, pool sheds, utility sheds, and backyard sheds are different categories of storage sheds.
