Even if you don't go full out and design an outdoor room at your home, you can still make a comfortable outdoor space on your patio. Arrange the outdoor chairs you already have for comfortable conversation, and place small accent patio tables between every other chair. Everyone will have a place to put a tall glass of iced tea and a cell phone while you watch the kids run through the sprinkler and enjoy the yard.
Next you need to consider the right fabric for the umbrellas to cover your patio tables. Consider your home environment. If you live in a place that deals with extremes in weather conditions, you need to look into heavy-duty fabrics that can handle what Mother Nature throws at it. If you are going to bring your umbrella inside, and put it in the garage when it's not in use, you have a lot more flexibility and will be able to pick from a variety of decorative, but not as weather-hardy fabrics.
The above ways are all ways to get a patio ready for summer. A person should also clean their patio thoroughly before they use it for the first time when summer arrives. If the patio is a wooded patio, then making sure that the wood is in good shape is a must for making sure it is ready for summer. Adding a grill or some sort of cooking device to the patio is another good way to prepare it for summer.
