Once you find the kinds of patio tables that will work for your needs, you need to select the right umbrella. Figure out how much shade you will need, and look for an umbrella that can offer that coverage. A general rule of thumb is if you have a patio table that is up to 30 inches wide, you need a 6-foot umbrella. A 7-foot umbrella will cover a table up to 36 inches. If you have a larger table, up to 48 inches, you need to look for a 9-foot umbrella, to assure the right amount of shade. If you are considering backyard dining, and have an exceptionally large table (up to 72 inches,) you will need a major umbrella of 11-foot in diameter.
Be willing to walk away if you are not getting the price you wanted. While you may initially think this means you will be heartbroken because you will not get the patio tables you wanted, you need to keep in mind there are plenty of tables out there and plenty of other furniture stores that need to move inventory so you will be able to find something soon in a price range that will make your happy.
Thanks to the economy, you might be able to get a better deal on patio tables than you could just a few years ago. Here's why. The economy has dropped off in the past couple years as you may have known.
